The Build Kit - What is it?
I’ve seen it time and time again, new build homes that look beautiful on paper but don’t actually work for the people who live in them. Four bedroom houses that can’t seat a family of five at one table and living rooms without space for a large, family sofa.
Garages are being converted before the paint’s even dry because there’s nowhere to store real family life. And don’t get me started on the “no-bath” layouts being marketed to young families (are babies having showers?!)

The truth is, most developments are built with efficiency in mind, not everyday living, and for self build clients, that gap can be even wider. I’ve seen families trust architectural plans that looked complete, only to discover mid build that the layouts simply don’t function. That’s where design thinking should come in.
